OYRTMA Announces Traffic Diversion Ahead of BOYE NATION/JAF Concert in Ibadan

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has announced temporary road closures and traffic diversions in parts of Ibadan ahead of the BOYE NATION/JAF Movement Concert scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2026.

The measures, according to the Authority, are aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and protecting motorists, pedestrians and other road users as the concert is expected to attract a large number of attendees.

Chairman of OYRTMA, Major Adekoya Adesagba (Rtd.), disclosed the traffic arrangements while briefing journalists at the Authority’s headquarters in Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Saturday.

Adesagba said VIPs with valid event stickers or entry passes would park at Gate 2, while other guests and attendees would use the Recreation Field opposite Gate 3, Sabo, as the designated parking facility.

He added that PTS buses would be stationed at the recreation field to transport attendees from the designated parking area to the concert venue.

According to the OYRTMA chairman, Gates 1 and 3 would be open strictly to pedestrians, with vehicles prohibited from passing through the two gates.

He consequently advised concert attendees to make use of the designated parking facilities rather than attempting to drive directly to the venue.

Adesagba also announced the temporary closure of roads leading to the stadium to motorists and members of the public without business at the venue, directing them to use alternative routes.

He specifically disclosed that the Danax en route Sabo Recreation Junction and Queen Cinema en route Eko Tedo would be closed to vehicular traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

The OYRTMA chairman urged motorists, commercial transport operators and residents in the affected areas to plan their journeys ahead and comply with traffic signs and directives from personnel deployed to strategic locations.

He explained that the restrictions became necessary because of the expected influx of people to the concert, stressing that the arrangements were designed to minimise congestion and safeguard road users.

Adesagba assured residents and visitors that OYRTMA would deploy adequate personnel to monitor traffic and respond promptly to any challenges before, during and after the event.

He also appealed to members of the public to cooperate with OYRTMA and other security agencies, noting that compliance with the traffic arrangements would help ensure the safe and orderly movement of people and vehicles throughout the concert.

The statement was signed electronically by Prince Dotun Oyelade, Commissioner for Information, Oyo State, on September 20, 2026.
