MAGGI Reaches 19,670 Women Across South-East in 2026 August Meeting Engagement
MAGGI has expanded its participation in the 2026 August Meeting tradition across South-East Nigeria, reaching 19,670 women through food, nutrition education and community-focused activities.
The initiative, which took place across five South-East states, saw MAGGI partner with 30 women’s associations and organise five market activations, more than doubling its participation compared with the previous year and marking the brand’s largest August Meeting engagement to date.
August Meeting is an annual tradition among women in the South-East, providing a platform for discussions on family and community issues, cultural exchange and social interaction.
As part of this year’s programme, MAGGI hosted receptions following the women’s meetings, featuring cooking competitions, music, gifts and appearances by actresses Ruby Ojiakor, Blessing Obasi and Blessing Onwukwe.
The three personalities, who are from the South-East, brought their personal connections to the region’s culture and the significance of August Meeting to the celebrations.
Food remained central to the activities, with culinary sessions introducing participants to fresh approaches to familiar meals, while cooking competitions provided an opportunity for women to demonstrate their culinary skills and creativity.
The engagement also featured practical nutrition sessions focused on making nutritious food choices within household budgets.
Discussions covered the importance of balanced and diverse diets, micronutrients such as iron, family meal planning and the role fortified foods can play as part of a varied diet. Participants were also introduced to MAGGI products fortified with iron.
Speaking on the initiative, Funmi Osineye, Category Manager, Culinary, Nestlé Nigeria, said August Meeting reflects the important role women play in strengthening families, preserving traditions and contributing to community development.
“August Meeting is a powerful expression of the role women play in strengthening families, preserving traditions and driving progress in their communities. It also creates an important space for women to come together, learn from one another and share experiences,” Osineye said.
She added that the engagement was particularly significant for MAGGI as the brand marks 60 years of operations in Nigeria.
“For MAGGI, being part of this enduring tradition is especially meaningful as we mark 60 years in Nigeria. It is an opportunity to celebrate the women who have been part of our journey while creating an experience that brings together culinary inspiration, practical nutrition knowledge and the shared joy of food and community,” she said.
Blessing Onwukwe, who participated in the celebrations in Enugu and Ebonyi states, described the experience as memorable.
“Joining the 2026 August Meeting celebrations in Enugu and Ebonyi States was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed every moment and am truly glad to have had the opportunity to be part of the celebrations in both states,” she said.
Participants also welcomed the combination of entertainment, food and gifts at the events.
Christianna Nwibo, an Executive of the Catholic Women Organization, Nwofe, Ebonyi State, said the participants enjoyed the MAGGI experience.
“We really enjoyed the MAGGI experience at our August Meeting. The food was delicious, the gifts were wonderful, and we had such a good time,” she said.
The 2026 August Meeting engagement forms part of MAGGI’s broader efforts to maintain connections with consumers and communities in Nigeria, particularly women who have played a significant role in the brand’s relationship with households over the years.
With MAGGI marking six decades in Nigeria, the brand said it would continue exploring ways to remain relevant to younger generations while celebrating the food, people and cultural traditions that have shaped its journey in the country.
