APC Holds Interfaith Prayer for Tinubu, Hamzat Ahead of 2027 Elections

... Lagos APC Candidates Seek Divine Guidance as Campaign Kicks Off

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has held an interfaith prayer session for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, its governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and other candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The prayer session, which marked the commencement of the party’s campaign activities, brought together party leaders, religious leaders, stakeholders and supporters to seek divine guidance, victory and peaceful elections.

Speaking at the event, Hamzat, who is contesting the Lagos State governorship election, expressed appreciation to the religious leaders and party supporters for attending the prayer session.

He said the gathering was an opportunity to commit the country, the state and the party’s candidates into the hands of God.

“We are placing our country in the hands of God. We are praising God, and by the grace of God and by His power, all of us are here. We thank God for coming together, and we pray that God continues to answer our prayers,” Hamzat said.

Also speaking, Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu said the prayer session was necessary to seek divine direction and prepare the party for the electoral tasks ahead.

Sanwo-Olu said the APC was not taking the prayers, the support of stakeholders or the forthcoming elections for granted, stressing that the party must combine faith with hard work.

“We are not taking anything for granted. We are not taking anybody for granted. What we have done is to ask God Almighty for direction. We know too well that God will answer the prayers of the faithful,” the governor said.

He added that the party had committed the forthcoming elections into God’s hands and expressed confidence that the prayers would translate into victory for President Tinubu and the APC candidates.

Sanwo-Olu urged party members and supporters to remain committed to the campaign and work diligently towards the success of the party at the polls.

“Faith without works is dead. We have faith, and we will go out and work. God will crown our work and our efforts,” he said.

The governor further expressed confidence in Hamzat’s ability to succeed him as governor of Lagos State, describing him as the party’s governorship candidate and a capable leader.

He also prayed for the success of the APC’s candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly elections.

Sanwo-Olu said the party expected victory for its candidates at the federal and state levels, while calling on supporters to continue to work together towards the achievement of the APC’s electoral objectives.

The prayer session underscores the party’s efforts to mobilise its members and stakeholders as it begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
