Airtel Nigeria Wins Two Awards at Marketing EDGE 2026

Airtel Nigeria has clinched two major honours at the 2026 Marketing EDGE Awards, emerging winner of the Leadership Award in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the Most Innovative Telecom Operator of the Year.

The awards were presented during the 14th edition of the Marketing EDGE Awards held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Ten Degrees Event Centre, Billings Way, Oregun, Lagos.

The annual awards recognise brands, organisations and industry professionals for excellence, innovation and significant contributions to Nigeria’s marketing communications and broader business landscape.

Airtel Nigeria’s double recognition highlights two key areas of its operations: its investments in telecommunications technology and connectivity, as well as its social impact initiatives focused on education, digital inclusion and community development.

The Leadership Award in CSR recognises the company’s sustained investment in programmes designed to expand opportunities for young Nigerians and support communities across the country.

One of the company’s notable initiatives is its School Adoption Programme, through which Airtel has renovated and upgraded several public primary schools, including classrooms and information and communication technology (ICT) facilities, to provide more conducive learning environments.

The company’s education-focused interventions also include its partnership with UNICEF under the Reimagine Education programme, which supports efforts to expand access to digital learning opportunities for children.

Airtel’s social impact initiatives also extend to technology and skills development. In March 2026, the Airtel Africa Foundation inducted its first Nigerian cohort into its Tech Fellowship, providing full scholarships to 70 undergraduate students studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related courses at public universities across Nigeria.

Speaking at the scholarship presentation, Chairman of the Airtel Africa Foundation, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, stressed the importance of investing in young people, particularly those from underserved communities, while developing Africa’s technology talent.

“True legacy is not measured by the awards we win or the volume of SIM cards we sell; it is measured by the lives we save, the people we feed, and the students we support when the line between success and failure is at its thinnest,” he said.

Ogunsanya said the Foundation remained focused on creating opportunities for talented young Africans and equipping the continent with the skills needed to participate meaningfully in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Meanwhile, the Most Innovative Telecom Operator of the Year award recognises Airtel Nigeria’s continued investments in network expansion, technology, products and services as digital connectivity becomes increasingly important to Nigerians.

The telecom operator has continued to expand its 4G and 5G services while strengthening its broadband, fibre, data and enterprise offerings. It has also developed digital and financial services aimed at meeting the changing needs of consumers and businesses.

The company’s investments have also extended to customer experience.

In August 2026, Airtel Nigeria expanded its network of premium experience centres as part of a broader retail strategy designed to improve customer access to support and services.

According to Airtel Nigeria Chief Executive Officer, Dinesh Balsingh, the expansion complements the company’s investments in network capacity and technology.

“Quality of service extends across the entire customer journey. It includes the strength and reliability of the network, the quality of our products and the ease with which customers can access support. These premium experience centres bring those elements together in a more convenient environment and give our customers a better way to engage with Airtel,” Balsingh said.

The latest Marketing EDGE recognitions come amid the continued growth of Nigeria’s digital economy, where connectivity is playing an increasingly important role in education, business, financial services, entertainment and everyday communication.

For Airtel Nigeria, the two awards underscore the company’s focus on combining investments in connectivity and digital solutions with programmes designed to broaden access to technology, education and economic opportunities.

The honours add to Airtel Nigeria’s record of industry recognition for its contributions to telecommunications, innovation and corporate social responsibility, while highlighting the growing intersection between technology, social impact and national development.
