Lagos Police Arrest Pastor Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Church Member’s Daughters
The suspect was arrested following a petition dated July 28, 2026, filed by the victims’ father, an adherent of the church.
According to a police source, the suspect allegedly began sexually abusing the petitioner’s elder daughter when she was 13 years old and continued until she turned 16 and gained admission into a university.
The source said the case came to light after the suspect allegedly assaulted the petitioner’s younger daughter, aged 14, on two occasions.
It was alleged that the suspect used religious teachings and manipulative biblical interpretations to gain the younger girl’s trust, in a manner similar to what he allegedly did with her elder sister.
Following the alleged assaults, the younger daughter reportedly informed her parents.
The source said the elder daughter subsequently opened up to her parents after the allegations against the pastor came to light, alleging that the suspect had been sexually abusing her since she was 13.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Fatai Tijani, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and, according to the police source, allegedly made statements during interrogation concerning the allegations.
The investigation is being handled by the Gender Section of the SCID under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the department, Dayo Akinbisehin.
The police said the investigation was ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court upon its completion.
The allegations have not been determined by a court, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
